Eugene Watkins, PhD

Dr. Watkins was the site manager at Old Fort Madison in Iowa for 16 years and worked for the Ohio Historical Society as an historical interpreter and interim education specialist at Fort Meigs. He has a PhD from the University of Toledo, where his research focused on the Early Republic Era, particularly the War of 1812. His other research interests include the Civil War Era and 19th Century Mexico.

William Watkins, Museum Assistant
William Watkins joined the museum in 2023. He moved to Warren County from Fort Madison, Iowa, where he worked at Old Fort Madison, portraying soldiers at the garrison. He is a student at Carl Sandburg College and interested in museum studies. He assists at events like the Muster in Monmouth and worked as a researcher on the Secret Societies and Fraternal Organizations exhibit.

Tamima Tabishat, Marketing Specialist
Tamima Tabishat joined the museum in 2025. She grew up in Monmouth and graduated from Monmouth-Roseville High School. She earned a BA in global studies at Lawrence University and a trade degree in custom tailoring from Kerschensteinerschule in Germany. She creates marketing materials for the museum and uses her tailoring skills to repair delicate clothing in our collection.
