Your History, Preserved

At the Warren County History Museum, we keep history alive through preservation, hands-on education, and interesting events, including the annual Great Nicola Magic Festival. We have something for everyone to enjoy, from our Civil War collection to a Country School Room and Plants of the Prairie, a seasonal outdoor exhibit.
From spring through fall, our exhibits are open to the public, with free admission. The collections area is open by appointment only.

Illinois is one of 14 states that have a county named after Joseph Warren, a Founding Father of the United States. He was a Boston doctor and patriot, who died at the Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775. He enlisted Paul Revere for his “midnight ride” to spread the alarm that the British were marching to Lexington and Concord to make arrests and destroy or capture military supplies.
