Internship Opportunities

Our internship program is open to all majors. We work with students to provide an educational experience that will help prepare them for careers. If you have an interest in local history, museum studies, communications, non-profits, marketing, or event planning, we can find a specialized project just for you! The museum also works with Monmouth College professors and their classes on projects throughout the year. There have been several collaborations between the museum and the college for their Summer Opportunities for Intellectual Activities (SOFIA) program.

Here are some projects from recent interns:
  • Grace Passaglia and Larissa Pothoven put together "Timeless Typewriters," an interactive exhibit. They researched the impacts of the integration of typewriters into wider society, particularly in the Midwest.
  • For a mini exhibit on entertainment in Monmouth, Austin Barry and Sam Stoyanoff researched four distinct groups that offered enjoyable experiences, including the Prime Beef Festival (an annual fair), The Monmouth Chautauqua's (an educational and social movement), The Crimson Masque (a student lead theater group), and The Sombrero Club (high school social club).
  • Kayla Beadles helped to expand the museum's social media presence and was the driving force behind the museum's first garage sale fundraiser.
  • Kallie Ditusa produced a brochure and a new family of logos for the museum. Her work has expanded the reach of the museum and gave it a more polished look.
  • Lily Guillen helped with the colorization process for the History Retouched exhibit. She also wrote press releases, photographed events, and redesigned the museum's website.
  • Jameyrae Swetman curated the Opera Houses in Warren County exhibit.
  • Sydney Barry compiled demographic research on The Great Nicola Magic Festival attendees to improve the marketing approach and reach for future years.

Become a Volunteer

Volunteering is a terrific way to become a part of the community and get hands-on experience in the museum world. The Warren County History Museum is fortunate to have many wonderful volunteers. In fact, prior to 2016, the museum was run entirely by volunteers!

Volunteers may help with any of the following:

  • Special events
  • Programming
  • Collections management and care
  • Data entry
  • Digitization
  • Oral history
  • Research projects
  • Marketing
