Taming the Prairie

Taming the Prairie explores the life of farmers during the early periods of Warren County and what was involved with a life on the farm. Agriculture continues to support the economy of Western Illinois, and this exhibit  draws from a variety of areas within the museum's collections.

Beginning with the ecosystem of the tall grass prairie that once dominated the region, Taming the Prairie goes on to look at the farmers who worked hard to farm this land, what their lives entailed, and what their work has led to on a regional and global scale.
